Mai Tai offers an exclusive adults only romantic mountain retreat, gay owned and operated and welcoming to everyone. Special occassions such as honeymoons, romantic getaways are our specialty. Well behaved pets are allowed and children over 18 are also welcome.A romantic mountain retreat lush with tropical plants and encircled by magical views across the valley to the Daintree Rainforest, Thornton's Peak and the sparkling coral coast. Situated high in the hinterlands of Port Douglas and only 10 minutes from the city centre makes Mai Tai the perfect destination for romance-seekers, honeymooners and special occasion guests who yearn for tranquility.

Arrived in Port Douglas in the middle of Cyclone Monica...wet wet wet....but did it matter, not at all. The perfect place to chill out and let the day go by. Beautifully crafted in a Balinese style and in the ideal setting. I would definitely choose to stay there again and can not recommend highly enough to anyone wanting to stay in this beautiful part of Oz. Anthony and Andre (and dogs) were the perfect hosts!

Locality

From Cairns Airport to Port Douglas is approximately 1 hour by car.

To arrive at Mai Tai Resort, drive north from Cairns along the Cook Highway, following the scenic route along the coast-line.

On your right, you will pass by Yorkey Point, Trinity Beach, Palm Cove, Ellis Beach and then Port Douglas.

As you arrive into Port Douglas you will see a sign-post pointing right off the Cook Highway, which directs you to Port Douglas township. Bypass this sign and keep travelling north along the Cook Highway for approximately 10km until you see the sign-post that reads "Mt. Molloy".

Turn left at this exit and travel for approximately 2.8km until you arrive at the Mai Tai Resort entrance on the right hand side of the road, and follow the driveway up to the top of the hill.
