Holiday house, Holiday house

This beautful large Australian Homestead is set on 40 acres of Carob orchard. Four beautifully appointed bedrooms sleep 8 people comfortably. All mod cons include two bathrooms, reverse cycle air conditioning, an open log fire, fans in all bedrooms, 4 TV/DVDs and a large games room with darts, tabletennis and games plus a seperate TV room.
The property is situated 20 minutes from Geraldton about 2 kms off the Brand Hwy. Within a few minutes drive there a 2 cafe/restaurants,2 taverns, an Inn, a deli service station, general store, wildlife park, 2 museums, the heritage village and the beach.

Locality

Historic Greenough was first settled in the mid 1800s and Mount Pleasant was built by the Waldeck family at this time. As well as being of interest to history buffs the beach has good fishing and surfing spots.
Enjoy the peace, watch the birdlife and at night the stars are magnificent.
A short drive away Geraldton offers all the ammenities of a thriving port city. A similar distance south Dongara/Port Denison also has much to offer.

The stone Homestead has just been totally renovated and is quite secluded on 40 acres set on a little hill looking east over the floodplain of the Greenough River.

Adult retreat

Tranquil and quiet with no interruptions.

We provide package deals for honeymoon couples. "Adult Retreat" would be considered as a second honeymoon (see "deals" this site). You have the whole house to yourself plus 40 acres of property, there is a log fire, table tennis, darts, games, jigsaws, books, mags, bicycles and lovely patio areas. A 20 min walk or 3min drive to Central Greenough Cafe and historical village. For dinner 15 mins drive to the Walkaway Tavern that has great meals and a country feel to it. Mt Pleasant is a fabulous place to relax it will not let you down, you want want to leave.

Beach

Less than 5 minutes drive to the beach.

Good surfing 10 mins drive to "Flat Rocks", surf comps are held here quite often, Good fishing 5mins drive to "Lucy's Beach", great for walking your dog as you don't need a leash. There are some natural pools most times to paddle or sit in, the sea is sometimes a bit rough and is rocky but beautiful. You don't need a 4wd but there are a couple of rough spots to take quietly. Beautiful sunsets often.

Bushwalking & wilderness

We are set on 40 acres. There is a walking track/road to the beach and takes about 20 or 30 mins.The whole area is rural, so walking anywhere from the house, especially in autumn, winter and spring is very pleasant.
There is a Wildlife Park 20mins walk or 3 mins drive. You can feed the kangaroos and pat the dingos.

Family Friendly

Portacot available, Plastic crockery and cutlery available for children, Games/videos for children under 5 available, Games/videos for children between 5 and 12 available, Games/videos for children over 12 available, Games room, Children's playground equipment.

We have a massive games room with table tennis and darts and a box of sport s equipment eg for cricket, badminton, socker, lots of balls, and a frisbee. The games room has a stereo and lots of CDs 60's 70's 80's 90's etc. You can turn the music up loud because it can't be heard in the house. There is also a TV/Sunroom with over 200 DVD's many of them for children and a very large box of legos (very popular!). We have over 8 bicycles for all ages and 2 scooters, a tyre swing on a tree and 40 acres to play on. Good old fashion fun.

Farmland Experiences

Carob orchard, no farm animals. Your dog/s welcome. 40 acres of space in a rural district.

Fishing spots available nearby, Local fishing knowledge available, Boat storage/parking available onsite.

Horse riding

Can bring your own horse, but no facilities provided besides space, ie horses would need to be tethered. 40 acres + to ride on.

Museums and Galleries

Museums and/or galleries located nearby.

Within a 5 minute drive are the unique Greenough Heritage village the Pioneer Museum and the Walkaway Railway Station Museum and many historic buildings that celebrate the 150 year history of Greenough and surrounding areas. The village (circa 1860) features 2 churches, a court house, a convent, halls and houses and has tearooms open 7 days a week.

Pet friendly

Cats are permitted, Small dogs (less than 11 kg) are permitted, Medium dogs (11 kg to less than 34 kg) are permitted, Large dogs (34 kg or heavier) are permitted, Pets are permitted outside only, Secure, fully fenced running area.

Dogs not permitted inside .We suggest the front veranda for sleeping, there is a mesh screen to make the area secure.
There's a dog run under some trees close to the house with secure chains where dogs can be tied up when required.
We also have a dog enclosure 4mtrs x 2mtrs x 2mtrs high with a kennel, that can fit at least 3 dogs (See photos on this site). You provide bedding, bowls etc.
Lots of room (40 acres + ) for your dog/s to play and for you to take them for walks.

Romantic getaway
