Cottage, Holiday house

This rainforest cottage was designed specifically as a retreat from the rest of the world. The Muse is meant to inspire peace and tranquility, as well as the desire to be creative. It is a retreat for the artist in us all.

Enjoy the peace and tranquility of the Daintree and explore the surrounding rainforest alive with abundant birds and wildlife.

Experience an eco-friendly lifestyle with solar power and rain fed water supply.

Built against the backdrop of giant trees and mature gardens in the heart of the forest, the Muse has an open plan design with funky decor and views of landscaped gardens from every room. The property backs onto world heritage listed national park and has a private creek at the rear of the house which meanders its way through the property with several small "bathing" holes to cool down in.
The property enjoys year round sea breezes and is just 1km from beautiful Cow Bay Beach which leads out to the Great Barrier Reef.
The cottage is not suitable for young children

The Muse sleeps a maximum of 4 adults with 2 bedrooms - one main bedroom downstairs and a loft with verandah upstairs. Both have king size beds and views of the forest beyond. The loft can be made up with 2 single beds on request.

Also included in the Muse experience is an extensive selection of Books, CD's, and DVD's as well as an IPod dock; camp-fire, gas hot-plate and weber BBQ's; Guitars, Snorkelling gear, a Surf Ski, Bicycles, Incense, Candles, Plunger coffee and more ...

* And if the thought of living without airconditioning, an iron and a hairdryer ...... and the close proximity of birds, goannas, lizards, insects and even the occassional Cassowary and snake - fills you with trepidation - then this retreat is not for you.....!!

"Simply Stunning."
We were hoping for somewhere different and special based on other reviews but nothing had quite prepared us for how fabulous the Muse House would be. The house itself is so creative in the use of space that it seems really large with the outside areas flowing so seamlessly that the feeling is like an extension of 'rooms', each with its own wee surprise. ......the enchantment is discovering the many aspects of this place that make it so special. Location

The Muse is located in a relatively remote area, North of the Daintree River, Far North QLD.It backs onto World Heritage listed National Park and is close to Cow Bay Beach.

Cow Bay is a 2 hour drive north of Cairns and 1 hour drive north of Port Douglas. The drive north involves the crossing of the Daintree River via car ferry. The beach is a 15-20 minute walk from the cottage, or 5 minute bike ride, or short car trip.
The Cow Bay community is 5km toward the main road and has a pub which serves food, coffee shop and ice-cream shop. The closest general store is a 20 minute drive to the north, the closest medium to large supermarket is south of the Daintree River at Mossman.

the closest town is Cape Tribulation, approximately a 35 minute drive north.

The Daintree rainforest is one of the oldest remaining rainforest remnants in the world and remains relatively unspoilt despite the increasing pressures of encroaching civilisation.

It is the home to thousands of plant species and is alive with a diverse selection of native fauna inluding the Cassowary. Cassowaries, rainforst monitors and lizards, several types of frogs and many species of birds all live in the forest that surround the Muse.

When visiting Cow Bay, please tread lightly and treat the forest with respect. Keeping the Daintree as pristine as possible will ensure that future generations are also able to experience it's spendour.
