Cottage, Holiday house


Varzy is a mediæval village in Burgundy, close to many historic large and small towns. Ideally situated for touring Burgundy including the wine areas, the many canals of the region and the nearby Loire Valley, or close enough for a day trip to Paris. The Nivernais canal, and its steady traffic of tourist barges, runs through Clamecy 16km away.
The famous wine towns of Chablis, Pouilly and Sancerre are within an easy drive.
Paris is only 2 hours by car or catch the train from Clamecy or Nevers for the day.

Village


Varzy is a village of about 1,400 residents in central France. It is in the Departement of Nièvre in the Bourgogne (Burgundy) area, close to many prominent towns, historic villages and on the eastern edge of the scenic Loire valley. There has been a village on this site since the 5th century, and the remains of mediæval fortifications are still in evidence.
The village has four cafés, four restaurants, a medical centre staffed with doctors and nurses, a dentist, a pharmacy, two bakeries, two supermarkets and a delicatessen-butcher.
The beautiful and imposing 13th century church of St Pierre, with its twin bell-towers, houses a number of treasures.

Cottage


'La Cachette’ has been formed from two former cottages providing the generous rooms of the present dwelling. The original cottage on the corner of rue St Pierre and rue du Moulin can be clearly seen on a sketch of the town dated 1570 with a vacant block between it and the next building where the second cottage was built.
The cottage has 3 bedrooms — 2 double and 1 twin, living/dining room, sitting room, 2 modern bathrooms, 2 toilets, kitchen with table/chairs, central heating, wireless internet, TV (cable), DVD player, CD player with ipod dock, linen supplied and paved outdoor area.
50 euro cleaning fee, payable on leaving cottage.
